Hopeful Message From Piotr
Forwarding a hopeful note from Piotr Szyhalski that just landed in my inbox. It makes me happy that I was able to draw a little circle next to Keith Ellison’s name in the last election. Thanks for the message, Piotr.

Hello my Friends,
I don’t know about you, but my frustration with the direction of this Great country of ours reached the new heights last night. I sincerely hope that the new Democratic Congress will put a stop to the planned further escalation of the war in Iraq. This is when I thought of calling up our representative in Congress: Congressman Keith Ellison. So, I have followed the information that I have gotten from MoveOn.org which I received after signing the official petition to block Bush’s plan.
And, I just had a conversation with Congressman Keith Ellison.
During that conversation he assured me that he will do anything in his power to stop the escalation in Iraq. He said that before the war started he was speaking out against it, he led demonstrations against it, and he is not about to change his mind now. He was also excited about me being from MCAD. He expressed the sentiment that art can profoundly affect the society, that it helps us understand the world, and that he himself feels that art had to a large extent shaped who he is today. As we were finishing the conversation, he said “I must go to the floor right now, but please stay in touch and let’s try to figure out how he could engage with students and faculty at the school”.
I told him that we were very proud of him, and asked him to stand tall for all of us here.
It was awesome, encouraging and uplifting.
Just wanted to share this with you, because this really served as a glimmer of light in otherwise a rather dark picture.
Yours,
p.
