julie pointed out to me (over beers and appetizers at chang mai thai) that i haven’t updated the blog for awhile and that was a week ago! sorry, i’ve been slacking.
i thought i’d write a little update about how i spent my vacation from work. i thought a day by day account might be interesting. for anybody who isn’t interested, attend our halloween party so i have something really good to write about!
friday after a super stressful week at work, i capped it off with an event filled night! this included making a super delicious dinner for paul’s parents. i made breaded chicken over field greens, squash and apple crisp. it was pretty good considering my nerves for cooking for paul’s parents and my very limited experience making chicken.
after paul’s parents came by there were a good number of friends who came over to make art. this pretty much meant playing with stencils and drinking. brian brought his “art” guitar and we had a sing a long at the end of the night. betty (cat) got really annoyed with him, because he was so attention stealing, she eventually bit his hand. no hard feelings.
on saturday paul and i went to rei to buy a bike helmet for me. we got one for kelsey too. well, really it’s her walking helmet. then we all went for a ride to northeast. i wanted to stop at nyes, but we kept going to brian, joe and woody’s house. we got to drink some specially spiced home brew they had made. we also had a barbecue and enjoyed one of the nicest days of the fall.
on sunday we made a bunch of food and totally kicked back with some episodes of six feet under. this is what started it all!
from sunday evening until thursday afternoon, i was six feet under hooked!
on monday, i went for a walk and watched six feet under. kelsey came over and watched more six feet under with me.
on tuesday, i went for a long bike ride and watched six feet under until i met julie at chang mai thai. then i came home and watched more six feet under.
on wednesday i watched six feet under in the morning, met alissa for lunch and then watched six feet under. this was that first really cold day, so i didn’t feel too bad!
on thursday i watched six feet under until i called kelsey in a complete freak out. “i’ve overdosed on six feet under!! i’m so depressed!” (really, i was just out of episodes from nicollette village video)
kelsey and i went to sushi tango for happy hour sushi rolls. this perked me right out of the slump. i came home, did the dishes, framed the pictures and cleaned the living room. i also shredded a box of credit card offers and even started on my grad school applications!
on friday i had a morning coffee with amelia and felt motivated to go to school next year. i went home and packed to go away for the weekend.
paul and i left that afternoon for the cabin. at the cabin, all we did was drink and eat. on saturday we went on a “tavern tour” of bars in the cabin vicinity. we stopped on the side of the most beautiful (stay tuned for pictures) gravel road. all the leaves were crispy and red. we ate sandwiches out of the trunk of the minivan and drank high life in the sun.
on sunday paul and i went on a nice hike through the woods. we ended up in uptown after coming back into town and found out that marjane satrapi is coming to town to talk about her new book. we bought tickets at majors and quinn.
when we got home on sunday night, paul decided he wanted to catch up to me on the t.v. shows. so, we settled in to watch some more six feet under.
